Hi Graham, have you checked the Eco panels for vibration? I can feel the side panels on the mini convertible vibrate with my fingers - or at least, I believe I can :-P
I'm wondering about being more scientific. Mostly people just make assertions when it comes to bracing. You can get piezo electric pickups pretty cheap, like this -
I wonder if they'd serve for a comparative measurement. For a few bucks it's worth a try. I seem to recall someone doing it. I could "starfish" one of the prototype mini convertibles and compare them.

Hey John , I'll have a talk with my off sider and see if I could implement Ze starfish into some cabs we are building :-b .
Starfish breeding program! :-b A starting point for designing would be place the center near where you were going to put dowels anyway. Then use square cross-section instead of round, plenty of glueing area then.
Looks like oiling up will have to wait another day still...

Oh, I see what I did, I moved my mouse over the banner at the bottom of the screeen which initiated a complete corporate takeover.
Well.... serves you right!! Actually I've never seen that and can't make it do it now. Ads on this site are a bit useless so I can turn them off on demand. OTOH it's a lot easier to start with them than try and add them later.
Hah hah, I think this "Scandinavian Oil" might have been on the shelf a bit long for it's own good. Had not one but TWO skins I needed to break through. Still, I decided to give it a try and it worked OK, my kind of finish, fairly fuss-free. Note to self, be a bit more careful in future where you spread the wood glue around....
Will try another sand (I hate sanding) and another coat tomorrow and see how it comes up.

Note to John...clean up early and often with a damp microfibre cloth when gluing and it doesn't become an issue. Once dried and soaked into the grain, glue (particularly the Titebond stuff) can be a mongrel to sand out.
Oh and try grapeseed oil as a finish...used sparingly it is quite effective.
Another option is food dye and a clear seal like Intergrain UltraClear
It's a good plan! In the meantime, waiting for these things to dry out so I can give them another sand and coat. Phew, think I better put them outside. They're looking better though.

Didn't Pearl Jam release an album "Chocolate Starfish", or was it "Bruised Date?" X_X
Interstingly John, I think every different enclosure project has different needs re bracing...
My ported sub boxes have XY matrix bracing, to deal with lots of low energy & high SPL.
My sealed econowaves only have a single shelf brace as they are not dealing with low stuff.

But you already know this stuff, I is just sayin'.

You can also use this amazing FREE iPhone App
iSeisometer
https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/iseismometer/id304190739?mt=8
I have used it. Very cool & impressive
Right! I'd forgotten about that one. Have you tried it?
Looks this one might be able to run a frequency sweep and read the accelerometer output - http://www.faberacoustical.com/ios_apps/signalscope_pro/
Getting there... this joins onto thaat...
I guess I'll put some finish on it before final assembly... and I just realized that I forgot to drills holes for the binding posts [-X
I have used the iseismometer for forklifts
Te othe app looks very cool
Where do people get these ideas?
It's a by-product of too much red wine and internet. :-??
Looking good John
Thanks Mal. I found something called "scandinavian oil" on a shelf which looks like just the ticket for a quick finishing job.
Oil me up baby! :x
What's with the 'Masters home Improvement Catalogue' ad? It blocked out the screen!?
Oh, I see what I did, I moved my mouse over the banner at the bottom of the screeen which initiated a complete corporate takeover.
Scary when you don't even need to click on banners any more X_X
yeah baby yeah!

Ooh, me likey!
Great ideas Seano.
:-? :-b
Food dye? Interesting. I'd like something that makes more of the grain for the next one.
I'm wondering if fermented grape juice would work - "one for me, one for the subwoofer"
I'm thinking I might not muck around with binding posts and install a Speakon connector instead.
Sounds like a plan

Of course it would. I have a t-shirt that has been dyed in red wine...
