  • We only use gas for cooking and boosting our solar hot water. We turn the gas off to the solar between October and Easter. So we don't use much gas... Heating is by wood - which reminds me I have to order a new stove (a little Nectre from Adela…
  • Blimey...that'd pay for a lot of jumpers and trackkie pants.

  • JohnR said: P'raps you need one of these then... That might work...except they are massive. Smallest is 150 cm. The absolute biggest we can go is 100 cm but 80 cm is better. We only sit about 2.5 metres from the TV and we can't go furt…
  • We were in Canberra for a day visiting mates and they took us up to the new Arboretum which also happens to house the national bonsai collection. Quite a display. Heck of a spot too...and free apart from the parking ($2 per hour, $7 a day).

  • We're on them. $125 for a swap from Elgas plus $36.80 per annum for bottle rental. Since we only use 1.5 bottles per annum...it's mostly OK. But it won't get any cheaper because the moving up to the world price...
  • You plugged it into the 'Net? Now it's watching you, never mind you watching it! As for what we'll be watching in fifty years… …whatever we are watching now just so we can remind ourselves (and inform everyone else) that things were better ba…

  • If it has pre-outs for each channel then it can be used to drive a multi-channel amp in the future…so the gutless PS matters not much. If it's just to improve on your new TVs awful built in speakers then it matters even less… One of the major rea…
  • JohnR said: Owh. Hey some parts of Sydney are nice! Like our bit You sure? I lived on the northern side of the Newport Bends for a year (Careel Bay - Avalon is for the easily swayed) and I'm fairly sure that side was nicer than anything…
  • JohnR said: How did you get to the Central Coast? Long drive just to go for a bike ride :O Sounds like you had fun though :-b Family Xmas…just about the only reason to go anywhere near Sydney at the best of times. Heading home over the …
  • Righto. Just did a lap of a proper cross country (XC) mountain bike (MTB) track on the NSW Central Coast. I used the basic but capable hard tail bike I have with its broken fork but that really wasn't the issue. As some may know…I am hardly the…
  • I'd invite Terry but I don't have his email…and I assumed you'd do it!!
  • …now that sounds like fun. Remember, if you haven't used it the past two years…it's probably not worth taking with you. Sell it, bin it, recycle it, lose it…sod it. That rule does not (and should never) include the missus.
  • JohnR said: ...my current theory is that if you cut it in half and it grows back, you (I) can probably do something with it. Roses! Some forms of hemp, perhaps?

  • New fork would be mid $800's. I can use the current one on another bike with a lesser quality (and currently broken due to blown seals) fork...so that would be a win. Wheels depends on quite a few choices. First is factory or custom. I have facto…
  • Think what Im going to do is whack a similar version of the Turner forks on my current bike and (perhaps) sort out another wheelset. Both lighter than the current setup and will give better handling as a result. If i ever manage to break the curre…
  • We seal our plywood with intergrain ultraclear...which looks for all money like watered down Clag when in the tin. But it works really well to seal the wood.
