Mal, don't feel bad about it being ugly. It's not your fault. Remember that you can always customize it to your personal taste, here's a lovely example -
I had a ride of one of those just the other day. It is merely a bicycle shaped object. And a damned heavy one at that. The handling is epic.
There is a Uber for bikes in Adelaide. Actually its pedicab style of thing.
Mal bought the Giant Comax which is the one with the curved top tube. It's only ugly in profile and when the rider is on board then the two uglies will cancel each other out....[runs away]
So much fun spending other people's money!! Especially while trying to keep my own cycling fleet moving and having a couple of build projects in the List Of Things To Do.
Personally I've begun using the Timber Bell on two of my bikes. They are expensive (mostly because of shipping from the USA) but its quite an enjoyable thing to use and it works on pedestrians in a really clever way. http://www.mtbbell.com/

You don't have to ride on dirt tracks to get it jingling away. One of the bells is fitted to my commuter road bike. Every little crack, bump and road or pavement join will get it going.

BIKE BELLS
The wife said get a bike bell :-/ .
Narrowed it down to 2 brands .
KNOG
https://www.knog.com.au/bike/accessories/oi-bike-bells.html?___store=knogcomau&gclid=CNq-4K_fq9QCFZsIKgodChIJAA
SPURCYCLE BELL
https://www.spurcycle.com/collections/all/products/better-bicycle-bell
I liked the design & function of both ,I'll check them out tomorrow .
Cheers
A bell? C'mon, what you need is something to scare the shit out o' those pedestrians!

Or if you want to be more old school, the bicycle Horn of Gondor
(Glad I could help :-P )
Or you could just get serious
You gave me an idea , combine the bell with a wave guide
You measured those CD's yet :-W
I'm working on the handlebar mount.
Imagine if you used your time for good , instead of evil
) ) )
I tried that, and it made me broke.
The knog looks good but doesn't work that well.
The spurcycle works very well but is expensive - there are a couple of cheaper knock offs like the Crane https://www.mountainbikesdirect.com.au/crane-e-ne-bell.

The other mad option is an AirZound https://www.bikeexchange.com.au/a/bike-bells-horns/delta/vic/moolap/airzound-bike-horn/102911828
