Eyeball - a bookshelf speaker
This speaker has been on the boil and bubble for quite a while... I'm hoping to "finalise" the design before too long. This design does need an active crossover.
Without boasting, I think it solves most of the problems of bookshelf speakers. The problems:
- The speakers don't actually fit into the shelf. Seriously, I've been there.
- If the speakers do fit, they have no bass and/or they blow up. Done that too.
- You can't toe the speakers in. It just doesn't work that well with a rectangular speaker on a shelf.
The above is a design that addresses all three issues.
- The bass module and the mod/treble module can be separated. Up to 600 mm (2 ft) vertical separation between the modules can be tolerated (although less is better).
- The speaker uses a fairly robust driver and box design
- The mid-tweet module ("eyeball") can be rotated to point in any direction you like.

So how are you planning to make the eyeball? Or is it going to be OB?
