Next big project: Te Deum

edited April 2014 in Audio Projects

OK so I finally came to my senses and realized that the only projects worth doing are the ones that you want to do for yourself. Using stuff you already have is a rather good bonus. Odd that I should need to come to that realization but anyway.

So, from top to bottom:

  • SB acoustics tweeters with waveguide from Dave Pellegrene
  • Mid... either 6" B&C 6PEV13 or 8" Seas full range driver
  • Bass - Lambda TD15M - sealed f3 ~ 84 Hz, vented f3 ~ 44 Hz
  • Subs - Dual opposed 12" per side, DSP of some kind no doubt

So that's it. Should be good to keep me occupied for a while yet.

Te Deum Concept

[Edit: 17 April 2014:]

This project is largely inspired by Troel Gravesen's Poor Man's Stradivadarius. But... it's bigger. Duke Le Jeune was also instrumental in getting me to think about loudspeaker dispersion. I was almost going to try and come up with a controlled-pattern offset bipole until I realized that a wide-baffle speaker by itself would (should) yield significant advantages. Perhaps one day I will be able to afford to turn this speaker into a bipole, it's designed so that I can...

  • OK, OK.

But, why do I still feel cheated? :-?

45mph speakers. Are they considered slow or fast?

  • Graham, what counts is how it corners!

Hey, I'm still planning. How's your center channel going :-P

  • I think I may have seen the thread, but I wasn't sure of the point. There wasn't much of a discount was there?

Better than paying full price and easier than getting 18" PHL's
    Cheers

  • Hi Mal, what's a "PHL"?

The discounts on the TD18H+ are better than the regular drivers by the looks. You'd have to pay GST anyway I guess so sea freight becomes an option?

Didn't you just sell some subs?

I still have the tapped horns .the 18's will do the 30-250hz to match the PSE .
I asked the new owner of my old project to join the forum .

Hm... maybe?! I thought there were some cabs with a funny shape and what looked like a lot of glue and clamps, with a 15" driver in them.

Turkey is an abbreviation of 'Turkey hunt', which is slang for 'headjob'

    I'll give you a hint.

    Someone gobbles, someone shoots.

The birthday present that keeps on giving...
